Fede e saperi in prospettiva teologico-fondamentale

 Il saggio propone di ripensare la funzione della teologia fondamentale, in rapporto all’odierna visione della ragione e della cultura che orienta le forme del sapere, a partire da due constatazioni: (a) la teologia fondamentale della fede, nella sua impostazione classica, non ha rilievo specifico nell’ambito del confronto sul sapere del cristianesimo; (b) l’impostazione razionalistica del sapere utilizza la classica distinzione teologica della ragione e della fede per immunizzarsi dall’onere del confronto. Emergono tuttavia elementi di novità, che possono essere criticamente assunti e valorizzati: (a) cresce nella cultura secolare l’interesse per il ricupero di temi religiosi fondanti del sapere occidentale, che sono stati introdotti dal cristianesimo, e la cui ermeneutica impone il confronto con la teologia; (b) emerge, nella società post-moderna, l’esigenza di una giustificazione della pretesa di verità, che attinga anche alla giustificazione della sua affidabilità etica, e non solo noetica. La due istanze indicano un compito che la teologia fondamentale potrebbe e dovrebbe assumere in proprio.

Abstract 

The paper proposes to rethink the function of fundamental theology in relation to today’s vision of reason and culture that influences the forms of knowledge, from two observations: (a) a fundamental theology of faith, in its classical setting, does not have a specific importance in the context of the confrontation concerning knowledge of Christianity; (b) the rationalistic approach of knowledge uses the classic theological distinction between reason and faith to immunize themselves from the burden of mutual comparison. However, new elements emerge, which can be critically engaged and appreciated: (a) there is an increase within secular culture of the interest in the recovery of fundamental religious themes of Western knowledge, which were introduced by Christianity, and whose hermeneutics requires a comparison with theology; (b) the need for justification of the claim to truth arises in a post-modern society, which also reaches the justification of its ethical reliability, i.e., not merely notional. The two instances indicate a task that fundamental theology could and should take as its own.
