Sommario – Richiamando il signifi cato di creatività, volontà, coscienza, cuore emotivazione, Girard ci indica un orizzonte fondamentale per dare un senso profondo e autentico al nostro tempo interiore, per ritornare alla «vita autentica»: ritornaread «essere se stessi». L’uomo è la sua anima. «È l’amore − osserva Girard − cheguida e determina le nostre azioni. È il cuore che guida la nostra vita, la nostramente, le nostre azioni: solo l’amore, crea». In questo orizzonte, la filosofi a nasce nello spirito dell’uomo e deve tradursi in atto nella vita. L’uomo deve dedicarsi alla filosofi a con tutta la sua anima, non soltanto con la ragione, ma anche con il cuore, con la coscienza, proiettato nella ricerca della verità non solo con il pensiero,ma anche con le azioni nel primato del bene e dell’amore. Come recita l’Apologiadi Socrate, «la fi losofi a deve essere tensione zetetica, una ricerca costante e maidefi nitiva» che non prevede confi ni o, per usare la metafora dell’amicizia presentenel Liside, una epithymia, una «tensione continua nella ricerca della verità», chenella sua natura rivela l’aspetto più profondo e autentico: l’essenza stessa dellaricerca fi losofica.

Summary – By appealing to the meaning of creativity, will, knowledge, heartand motivation, Girard is recommending to us a basic horizon to offer a profoundand authentic meaning for interiority, to return to the “authentic life” – to returnto “being oneself”. A man is his soul. “It is love”, observes Girard, “that directsand determines our actions. It is the heart that directs our life, our mind, and ouractions; love alone creates”. On this horizon philosophy is born in the human spiritand must be translated into act in life. Man should dedicate himself to philosophywith all his soul, not only with his reason, but with his heart and knowledge, thrustinto the search for truth not only through thinking but also through actions withprimacy given to goodness and love. As stated in the Apologia of Socrates: “Philosophyshould be an incessant striving, a continuous and never ending search”that does not have predefi ned limits, or to use metaphor of friendship found in theLysis, an epithymia, a “continuous striving in the pursuit of truth”, which revealsthe most profound and genuine dimension of its nature: the very essence of thephilosophical search.
