Description
The volume is dedicated to one of the most famous figures of classical myth: Orpheus. Presented in these pages are a series of works of art ranging from antiquity to the contemporary, passing through masterpieces by great artists such as Titian, Parmigianino, Rembrandt, Bruegel the Elder, De Chirico, Redon, Cocteau, Feuerbach, up to Melotti and Paladin, just to name a few. The intent is to highlight the resonance that his figure has had in Western civilization, placing particular emphasis on the sad and tragic events that link him to his beloved Eurydice, to Hades, to the power of his song and to the fury of Bacchae. An echo that pervades not only the artistic field, but also musical, theatrical, philosophical and literary, as explained in the essays included.
